Admiral CEO salutes Remploy partnership at branch anniversary
18 July 2008
Businesses can benefit by tapping into a job-ready labour force of people with disabilities or health conditions who want to work, said Admiral Group chief executive Henry Engelhardt at an event to mark the first anniversary of the opening of Remploy’s Cardiff branch.
Mr Engelhardt said that Cardiff headquartered Admiral Group has developed a successful partnership with Remploy, which is the UK’s leading provider of specialist employment services for people with disabilities, health conditions and other complex barriers to work.
Speaking at Remploy’s city centre branch in Golate Street, Mr Engelhardt said, “Admiral has benefited from our working relationship with Remploy. We pride ourselves on valuing equality and diversity and the fact that no-one should be denied job opportunities. What’s important to us is how well people can do the job and deal with our customers.
“Over the past year Remploy has helped us to meet our recruitment needs, and the relationship has been beneficial for all concerned. We value having an organisation that can provide job-ready candidates for us on our doorstep. The people we have recruited via Remploy have proven themselves to be among our most loyal and able colleagues.”
Kate Brain, Remploy’s Cardiff branch manager, added:
”In the past year we have worked with local employers to support more than 250 local people into work. The branch will continue to play a key part in helping Remploy increase the number of people with disabilities and other barriers to work that we support into mainstream employment to 20,000 a year by 2012.
“We aim to continue working very closely with companies like Admiral, which has a growing business based in south Wales. Our strategy is to work with the best employers in Wales and the partnership with Admiral is a great success.”
Whilst visiting the branch, Mr Engelhardt honoured Remploy Cardiff’s ‘Job Achiever of the Year’, Philip Bell. Philip, 23 from Canton, is currently working as a trolley porter at Tesco Extra on Western Avenue and was recognised for his dedication to overcoming barriers to employment.
Candidates who apply for jobs at Admiral via Remploy are guaranteed to be considered. Since its launch in 2003 Admiral has become one of the UK’s leading providers of insurance services, currently employing 2,500 people. It has been recognised as one of the 50 best workplaces in the UK and 100 best workplaces in the EU, according to the Financial Times, for the last six years.
Disabled jobseekers and employers are invited to call at the Remploy Cardiff branch in Golate Street, which is open from 9am – 5pm Monday – Friday, or to call 0845 155 2568.
