Information days on high technology laboratories to be held next week

13 January 2010

Information days are to be held next week on state-of-the-art laboratories that will open later this year at Trident Park, Cardiff.

Quotient Bioresearch Limited (‘Quotient’), a leading provider of drug development services, announced in June last year that it is to invest up to £15m in the new high-technology laboratories to serve the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

This followed its acquisition of the Custom Preparations Business of GE Healthcare, which is based in the Whitchurch area of the city. The acquisition will see 75 scientific and support staff transfer to Quotient and the company plans to recruit up to a further 40 support and other staff at the new site in Trident Park.

The information days will be held on:
• Monday 18th January at The Wharf, Schooner Way, Cardiff Bay 12pm – 7pm
• Tuesday 19th January at STAR Leisure Centre, Splott Road, Splott 12pm – 7pm

Chairman and chief executive Paul Cowan said,” Our new facility represents a significant investment in Cardiff and will help maintain the city’s world leading position in the field of radiochemistry and drug development.  It will also protect the jobs of highly skilled chemists and support staff.  The new facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology to ensure it operates to the highest environmental standards and well within regulatory frameworks.

“We are committed to keeping local people informed about our plans.  The information days will provide the facts about the facility and we would urge people with an interest to come along and find out more.”
Quotient representatives will also be present at the ‘New Year – New You’ event to be held at STAR Leisure Centre, Splott this Saturday (January 16th) between 12pm and 4pm.

Quotient Bioresearch is a subsidiary of Quotient Bioscience, a specialist technology company with many years’ experience in providing services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients.
